Sometimes my Pomeranian prince breathes like he has asthma, is this common with the breed?

Yes, it is.

Pomeranians do have breathing problems. One thing they do is a “reverse snort,” where they make a snorting noise on the inhale. There is a history of collapsed tracheas in the breed.

Pom Breathes Funny

I fully agree with anonymous. Some poms do have this problem. If you are very concerned, please see your vet. Sometimes there is help for this.
