Your dog may have a bowel obstruction which is making him yelp and I believe that he has associated the pain which sets in only after he has had the first part of the bowel movement. Animals are very intelligent, therefore he now knows that if he goes in the house for the final elimination, he knows this will not hurt. Try keeping him outside after the first elimination for a longer period of time. Examine his waste to see if the first step is very hard or soft. If the second step is soft, perhaps a mild physic or some kind will help. Are you aware of a new food you may have introduced which is binding him somewhat. Otherwise, please take him to a vet for a consultation as this painful problem will not go away on it’s own. Take care. RR
