Potty Training Puppies

Potty Training Puppies & Dogs

When it comes to Potty Training Puppies it takes time and a lot of effort. Hopefully your pups breeder has done their work so your little one has some kind of training. Chances are you are in for a few messes on your clean floors.

It is helpful to have a natural cleaner around to help you clean up and take odors out of your carpets and floors. I always recommend a natural cleaner as it is not harmful to your pet or you. Chemical cleaners can cause an allergic reaction and a unwanted vet bill. Best not to any take any chances with your new family addition.

There are many ways breeders use to get their pups to go where they want them to. I would like to discuss the more popular ways of doing so with you.

PAPER TRAINING

Not my favorite method and definitely the cheap way to go. In the long run it never teaches your dog to go out to the grass to do it’s business. They learn to go in the house on newspaper. If you have no other alternative then using paper make sure you have a good odor removal product such as Natures Miracle on hand.

PEE PADS

Pee pads are a great invention as they smell like grass teaching your new friend to smell till it finds the grass scent. This method can become quite costly as once they have used the pee pad it needs to be discarded and replaced. Even if they have only used one little spot of the pad. I found when using them my pups would come to the edge smell the grass scent and go on the floor beside it.

LITTER BOX TRAINING

Teaching small breed dogs like the Pomeranian to use a litter box is a better more cost saving way then the two above methods. This takes a lot of time and patience. But a lot of breeders prefer this method so your pup may already be used to it.

POTTY MATS

The easiest way to Potty Train Puppies to go where you want them to is the potty mat. BEWARE not all mats are alike. There are several on the market that are cheap I do not recommend them. Being a breeder I have tried just about every one out there, after trying all the methods above.

The cheaper ones have grass mats that fray. Before you know it you have rubberized grass pieces all over your house. Then your puppy thinks it is a toy and you have got pee mats being dragged around your floor. Messy for clean up and not much fun for you.

My absolute best pick costs around $120.00 for one pan and potty mat. I can tell you thought it is the best investment I have made. Very few accidents even with puppies just crawling out of their bed to go. The mats are grass scented, easy to clean and have a long life expectancy. If you ever find the Wiggle Wag mat I would highly recommend it for Potty Training Puppies when they are indoors.
