Pom’s different behavior

Pom’s different behavior

by Dee

My Pom is acting differently, she walks slowly with tail tucked under. Also, she is trying to get into very small spaces,e.g.shoes, shoe boxes, corners, but immediately leaves that spot to go to another. Her quiet and lethargic behavior is similar to the time she had tick paralysis except she wasn’t trying to get in small spaces. I can’t find a tick, so wondered if anyone else has encountered this behavior. Thank you for your help! Dee

Update on earlier question

by: Dee

Hi, if anyone read my post yesterday about my concern for our Pom, Sassy, I took her to the Vet ER last night. Her condition worsened quickly and seemed to be neurological (infection or cancer) . We had to put her to sleep. Then, the unbeleivable happened. We had a lab/greyhound mix (chip)that was being treated for thyroid cancer. We were trying to make him comfortable and he didn’t seem to be ready leave us yet. He passed away in his sleep the same night that we lost Sassy. Chip had always been Sassy’s protector, so I beleive he left us so he could continue to look after Sassy. I don’t know if anyone is reading this but I just had to put our loss and thoughts out there. God Bless and thanks for letting me express my thoughts!! Dee

The Passing of Two Pets

by: Rita Rail

Hello Dee: I know it is a tragedy when you lose one dog but to lose two in a shot period of time must be hard to cope with the sorrow. Some times it soothes us if we can ratify a reason in our minds that one had to follow the first to continue to cherish it’s friend. This is called healing! Humans often think that when Mom left us, Dad was with us only for a short period of time and we always allude to this as finding a reason “why” except for the one that actually was the cause. We tend to make ourselves feel better by saying that “Dad had to continue taking care of Mom”. When we give a reason to a happening that we really do not want to accept until we are healed “Why not!” Time will help and you will be fine. Take care. RR

Pom’s Different Behaviour.

by: Rita Rail

Hi Dee: If there are no health problems with your dog, then I think it can be behavior problems. Sometimes it makes you feel that you have to be a mind reader. Usually only this behavior happens to dogs because they want their own dens. My dogs all had cages and beds. Both of them sometimes would sleep in their beds but if there was too much activity in the house, they would go to their cages. My cages were used for night-time but I did leave them open during the day. The were locked in at night because being so small I did not want anyone stepping on them during the night. The cages were always covered with blankets or large bath towels leaving the front entrance uncovered and a blanket for over-night. I also locked them in these cages with a bowl of water and a bit of food whenever I had to leave the house. They had free range of the house during the day but at night they were caged.

We treat them like our children, therefore, we must be more aware of their problems. THEY DEPEND ON US! A favourite toy should be added to the pen. These are the night-time companions the same as the children kept theirs’ in the bed during the day.

Who knows these intriguing minds!!! Please advise if this worked for you….RR
