Palm is crying and can’t walk straight

Palm is crying and can’t walk straight

by Trisha

(Trenton, Tx)

My palm is about 14yrs old. Female. During the night she started crying as if in pain when she was trying to move to another spot. It caused her to potty also. And when she tied to walk she could only go in circles. She did this several times and then she was able to walk better. She is an indoor dog. She also would cry when I would try and pick her up like her body is sore. She has done this once before and after a few days she was fine again. She also becomes very quite which is not like her but she is not a bouncy dog to begin with. What might be going on?

I would definitely take her in since this has happened before and the fact that she is crying in pain. Dogs hide there pain very well, so she is obviously very uncomfortable. There could be issues with her kidneys or liver, and since she is older, I would definitely take her in.

A medical problem

by: Rita Rail

My Poms have not reached this stage in their lives to have this problem. Some of my other animals might have but not to this degree. The only animals that I became familiar with were larger dogs. I know of labs, German shepherd and mostly that size or larger. The lady who owned the shepherd was giving her an aspirin a day but I would not give this unless advised by my vet. I am on the watch for any blood thinners. She may have progressed to two a day, I am not aware of this and I certainly hope that they were no stronger than baby aspirin. A couple of years later she had to be put down because it took two people to help her upstairs at night. She had always slept in the daughter’s room. The problem was arthritis. You should have her vet-checked for administration of the proper drugs. I hope my advice has been useful. RR
