pain in lower left quadrant

pain in lower left quadrant

my pom is going to be 2 in July…he has been acting a little strange…one minute he is playing and chasing his ball and the next minute he whines and turns to his left side…when I press on the lower left quadrant right behind his ribs it hurts him…I used a new groomer and started noticing him doing this the following day after I brought him home…I don’t know if something happened at the groomers or if it could be a bruised muscle or something more any ideas?

Pain in lower left quandrant

by: Rita Rail

I am very sorry to note that your dog is in pain. I sincerely advise you to bring your pom to a vet. I recall my friend telling me what happened to her terrier. Jake, a terrier and in very good health. He was taken for grooming, always the same groomer for 15 years. When he returned home, he was limping and in some pain. My friend telephoned the groomer’s office and was told that Jake had not fallen off of the table or did not have any mishaps in her place of business. Another day passed and Jake was still limping and seemed in pain. My friend took him to the vets and he was diagnosed as having a fracture. My friend telephoned the groomer and advised her of such. It turned out that it was her word against my friend’s. Therefore, my friend had to absorb the whole cost of repairing this injury. There is good and bad in everything. Do we go to extreme lengths and purchase insurance? This is a personal preference. I have been fortunate that with all of my animals there were no such severe injuries but there was surgery etc. etc It was my choice as it is yours to purchase insurance. Please have your pet checked out because if there is a problem and you wait too long, the injury may not heal properly and this will be more expensive and may be too late to heal properly as one case that I know of this happened. Take care RR
