How old was your Pom when he/she needed teeth removed?

How old was your Pom when he/she needed teeth removed?

by Whitney

(Lancaster, PA)

My almost 9 year old baby girl Pom was not chewing her bone on one side of her mouth. The vet said she needs a few teeth removed. He made it seem like it was normal for Poms and that she was actually older than most when they first need teeth removed. I just wanted to know if this was accurate.

Yes, it is accurate. I have had 4 poms. in my lifetime, and are susceptible to losing there teeth. Most small breeds are.

I agree. I have had multiple poms. too, and they have all had teeth removed at a young age. Poms. are very prone to that.

Teeth Problems

by: Rita Rail

Yes it is normal to have teeth removed, Crystal had to have her front teeth removed, the first and the second set as they were growing outward. She was not loosing her baby teeth on her own. She hasn’t any front bottom ones. It does not bother her. Emily is nine years old and she had a loose front tooth removed, it would not come out on it’s own and was causing her difficulty to grab her food. It is not unusually in my case for my two Poms. Perhaps you can view this problem on Google or consult your vet if this is causing problems eating. Happy Pomming. RR.
