Free Puppy Training Tips
How to start off right.

These Free Puppy Training Tips are designed to help you start off on your way to having the perfect companion. Before you decide to get any puppy you must make sure your entire household is on the same page. Everybody wants a puppy and they are aware it is going to involve some work on their part.

If this is not established to begin with it will likely end up in failure.

I do suggest sitting down as a family and discussing what rules this new addition will have and where it will be allowed in the house. Remember one day this cute pup will be a full grown dog. Imagine this pup as a dog and really think what do I want it to be able to do? What rules and boundaries should we set for it. Make sure the whole family is in agreement to the rules before you bring home the new family addition.

Now that everybody knows what and where the puppy will be allowed to do/go. It is time to let the pup know this. Where do you begin ? First off you need to find out what kind if any training has the breeder done? By eight weeks of age a good breeder will have taught the puppies some of the basics. An exceptional breeder will have done much more.

Hopefully your breeder is on the exceptional side and you have a little one with some good training already. If nothing has been done you will need to start from scratch. Always bring a collar and leash when you are ready to bring your bundle of joy home. Walk the puppy to your vehicle, never think he/she can not walk.

Although they are small place the two front paws inside the vehicle and hold the hind end up so they can get in. No matter how small they are this will help them to know how they got to their new home. It is best to do this when they are tired. Should you little one cry, whine or howl it is important to Not give it any attention or feel sorry for it. You do not want a dog that exhibits this kind of behavior do not let the pup think he/she can do this for attention.

I know this sounds hard to do but it will be worth it in the long run.

HOUSE TRAINING A PUPPY

You have made it home with your new best friend, now what?

Do not go directly into your house, take your dog for a short walk in the front yard. See if they have to use their new bathroom. Approach your door and get your puppy to sit. Make sure everybody in the family walks through the door first before you invite in the little one.

Once in you can start house training your pup. Keep him or her on the leash and show it the house room by room. If there is any place you will not be allowing it to go in the house. Stop by the door to that room and make the dog sit and look but do not allow it to enter. Pomeranian’s are very smart and will catch on quick with consistent training.

After introducing your house to the pup take it to the spot you would like it to do his/her business, still on the leash. Make sure they know how to get there. If they do go make up a command IE “potty time” and say it every time they go where you want them to. Finish off with some praise ” Good Girl” or something similar. Make sure everybody is using the same commands and reinforcements.

Should you find your puppy going in a undesirable location Make a loud noise to startle it. This should stop it from finishing up in the area and take it to the place you would like it to go right away.
