Bloating – Toy Pom
by Melissa
My little Simba is a four year old toy pom who was found to be a cryptorchid (spelling?) My fiancee and I went ahead with surgery to have both testes removed when he was a pup (the engorged and the dropped one).
He is quite active but seems to be putting on weight despite being on more or less the same diet as he has been since a pup. Albeit, we have to make him run because he would rather sit in the shade when outside, and loves napping on the couch.
He is up to date with all his shots and is dewormed regularly. Him and our fox terrier are full time indoor and house broken dogs but spend quite a few hours in the morning and afternoon as supervised by me in the garden. We also have a black lab who is outside full time. They all seem to be in good health.
Simba’s bloating has just been a bit of a red flag for me, as it seems to be masquerading as weight gain? He yelps if I press his belly just around his back legs and pants a bit.
Other than that he eats as he always does, I make sure they always have fresh water throughout the day, and he still performs and rubs against us to get playtime and attention regularly.
Paranoid dog-mom or genuine issue??
