5.5 pounds of unconditional love…

Growing up an iron workers son, I was influenced by a lot of big burly macho guy’s. Small and toy sized dogs were not their forte’. My family in particular, had a German Shepherd, followed some years later by a Doberman. I remember my father always irritated by small dog’s whom he deemed worthless and good for nothing. I however, being a true animal lover, just loved animals period. I was always bringing home strays and receiving an earful for it. I did however, carry on in the large dog tradition well into my early forties. Pit Bulls in fact. I know, I know, but I’m not here to discuss my two female pits (Sweetpea and Pearl), that I loved for 11 years and 9 years consecutively. I’m writing about the 2 year old 5.5 pound Pomchi scratching at my door right now. I bought Chewbacca from a breeder a little over 2 years ago for my wife because she had lost her mother. I was working long hours and she needed extra comfort. Well, here we are a little over 2 years later and he is definitely daddy’s boy. I never knew Such a small creature could bring me so much joy and continue to amaze me on a daily basis. He is truly amazing and soooo handsome. I simply dote over him 24/7. We have 2 girls 8 and 15 and I’m embarrassed to say although they have their share of mishaps and groundings, Chewy can do no wrong in my eyes. I mean is that crazy? He is so sweet and he always greets with with so much excitement. You would think he would grow tired of the excitement of his master coming home from work but it’s always like we’ve been separated for day’s and he greets me with a dance and a big kiss when I swoop him up. Thank you lord for blessing me with Chewy. I never saw that one coming. UPDATE: so many friends and family members have fallen for Chewy’s charming ways, that I decided to find him a mate. That mate came in the form of a rescued Pomchi named Lady and I’m happy to say I’m the proud grandpa of 8 beautiful pups whom are all spoken for. Congratulations Chewy and Lady.
